We’ve all heard the age-old adage, “If I knew then what I know now.” Marriage is tough, no
matter how long you’ve been at it. My husband and I have been navigating this journey for 31
years, and we still don’t have it all figured out. My hope is that this blog will be a resource to
lighten the load and create space for lightheartedness and laughter in your relationship.
A little backdrop about us: we were both raised in religion. Before our third child was born, my
husband and I had a life-changing experience—we were born again. We received Jesus Christ
into our hearts, and our lives were forever changed. Since then, we’ve been on a journey of
pursuing Christ through His Word. For the last 20 years, we’ve worked to walk with the Lord
and raise our children in faith.
Through it all, I’ve come to the conclusion that the most important endeavor in life is knowing.
First and foremost, knowing the Lord and striving to keep your heart soft through quiet time with
Him. Second, knowing yourself—our true purpose is hidden in the heavens and can only be
realized through a passionate pursuit of Christ. Third, knowing your spouse—being intentional to
discover something new and good about them every day, refusing to let the busyness of life snuff
out the love between you. And lastly, knowing your children—seeing the beauty and God-given
giftings in them, and refusing to focus only on the things that may frustrate or grate our nerves.
